The hotel's nautical theme is charming, fitting well with its beachside location. I appreciated the personal touch at breakfast, served in a lovely garden setting. My room had its own terrace. The shower pressure was excellent. The room felt humid initially until I requested a fan. The bathroom was dated and cramped, and the towels lacked quality for the price point. For over £160 a night, I expected more modern amenities. I hope they consider reducing plastic waste at breakfast. There are good elements, but significant upgrades are necessary.

Our location was great in a residential area of very fine houses. And we were not far from a nice and cosy garden, and beautiful Laredo.

Wi-fi worked great. Lacked plugs near bed and had slow water fill in the bath.

Close to the beach; quiet (we were there outside of the season); cousy and nice atmosphere (sailing/boating theme was nice); spacious room; breakfast outside in garden; reception desk operator spoke English.

Breakfast in the garden. Comfortable bed
Very tired small room. They tried to charge the Tax (EVA) twice!

Charming gardens, beautiful old decor, cultural events nearby
The rooms are severely outdated, with old furniture and carpeting!!! Poor bathroom conditions with warped doors and inadequate water pressure!!! Parking difficulties due to limited availability!!! Improve cleanliness to avoid disturbing odors!!!

The hotel contains lots of litle things related to historical boats for example navigation instruments, wonderful pictures and other maritime details. The name "El Ancla" is perfect. The garden and the location near to the sea is perfect to relax.

The staff here were excellent, especially Maria, who made check-in easy! The hotel grounds were lovely and was like a museum, full of sea memorabilia-really gave a sense of place. I had a late arrival, around 1:30am, and they welcomed me like family, super warm! Plus, my room was clean and had great natural light during the day, great for waking up!
It wasn't the cheapest option available, but still worth it.

Very nice decor with a 'ship' theme. Lovely artwork and furniture. Easy walk to the beach in a nice quiet area. Lovely gardens. Better appreciated by older people rather than the younger set.

Beds and pillows in my triple room where exceptionally comfortable. The location was particularly good and stunning, for example, La Salve Beach was not too far from the hotel. It was located in a very quiet area very close to the port, El Ancla garden, and the public areas & good breakfast, a fabulous base for me...

Had a blast with my friends! The hotel has great access to the beach, and we even found a cozy place to eat just a short walk away. The staff was always ready to help us out, and they allowed us to park our bikes securely. A fun spot!

The Hotel Ancla was in a residential area but a short walk to the beach area and the old town is walkable to as well. We were made very welcome here although neither of us are good at speaking spanish (this will be remedied for future years). The hotel had a nautical theme throughout with anchors and other navy memorabilia. To carry on further my husband had mislaid his mobile and although we thought it would turn up when we got home it was not found in our luggage and we presumed it was lost. This morning we had a phone call from the receptionist at El Ancla to say the phone had been found there and could she pass it back to us. She had gone to the trouble to find a number that may have been our home number (top marks here) How many places would have gone to all this bother not many I think. But someone in Spain cared enough to try and find the owner. We would recommend this Hotel to anyone wishing a family beach holiday as there were a number of children staying and they seemed to enjoy themselves a very relaxed atmosphere. I will be writing to the Hotel personally in a few days to thank them.

Location one block from the beach. Nice terrace for breakfast. Staff was friendly. Funky but amusing nautical decor.
Rooms were a bit old and a little smelly. The Family room was a double with an added roll away bed which was a bit cramped.
